GP Assistant

I think the Universe was trying to tell me something yesterday, below is a clipping from yesterday’s paper, a joke about GP assistants. The appointment went well today, I filed a complaint… In my case the assistant was patronising me, talking to me like I was a 13 year old child. It happened before, several times actually. I’m an adult woman, I don’t wish to be spoken to like a kid leaving me the impression that I’d done something wrong.

The GP even mumbled some kind of apology today and said she would talk to her assistant. The problem (that wasn’t really a problem to begin with, just a misunderstanding) why she had to see me was solved once I showed her my previous records. All of this took about three hours, just to rectify something, three hours of which one hour and half spent in the waiting room… The positive side is, that it’s solved and I got what I came for… Justification…

Cartoon below:

  1. Many believe that doctor assistants are not friendly
  2. You wish to see the doctor? What are the complaints?
  3. …That his assistant is extremely brusque, impertinent and grumpy.

A Day in Town

Today I was supposed to meet up with the manager of the City Auditorium Ms. S. but her secretary called and canceled this morning because Ms. S. was ill. It’s been postponed till next week but I can’t deny that I was slightly disappointed because I’d been looking forward to meeting up with her and show my portfolio. In a way it’s good though because I still need to go through my folio and perhaps add some more designs that I’ve been working on lately.

I decided to go into town and check out the one and only toko here, a mainly Chinese toko that seem to stock all my favourite pastes, noodles, noodle soups, herbs, condiments and even some cool Chinese crockery. Another Aladdin’s cave to me, I couldn’t resist buying something, so I took a nice big jar of Thai green curry paste. I use this to make a chicken soup with coconut milk and rice noodles, very tasty and it only takes 20 minutes to prepare.

I also got myself a refill for my personal mini organiser mainly because I’m scatterbrained most of the time. But also because lately my desk is covered in notes jotted down on small pieces of paper: names, dates and times that suddenly seem to disappear when I need them most. This can be quite inconvenient. Especially when my nature is that of trying to be organised… scatterbrained but organised: yes that is possible, at least in my case it is *wink*.

Sooooo, I’m back to a typical Dutch habit: keeping an organiser to keep track of things because I have, what feels like, a million appointments planned. One tomorrow afternoon because my GP needs to see me and ever since I’ve spoken to her assistant I feel the need to ‘see her’ as well… It’s not going to be a civilised chat I’m afraid because I’m not happy about how she and her assistant have to approach things: I’m about to look for another GP.

More on that in another post probably… It’s been a strange week and next week is going to be even stranger… I hope in a good way! Have a beautiful weekend…
