I haven’t done anything interesting lately except for work but I guess that depends on what you consider interesting. To me certain things are exciting which to others might not be that exciting at all *hehe*. I finally have a moment to breathe before I’ll be working on more projects. I need to finish the design of business cards for another client but had to postpone this until I got the results back from the printer, I would like to use spot UV for his cards as well.
I’m also asked to design an accountants website which to me is a challenge because it will involve certain widgets, scripts etc. like tax calculators. So I’m doing research to see if it needs coding and if I can do it myself or if I’d need someone to do this for me or provide the service. A cool challenge and a perfect addition to my portfolio since it needs the commercial and professional look and feel of an accountancy firm.
I received the five different sets of business cards from the printer last week and they look absolutely stunning especially with the spot UV added, which gives that luxurious feel and the client was extremely happy with them. I was slightly disappointed about the colours at first but I was just nagging, I’m actually very satisfied. The printer was slow and caused me some extra grey hairs *hehe* but it all worked out just fine.
The result was so good that I’m thinking of having my own cards printed, they’re so outdated. I started a redesign a while ago but never finished it. I adjusted my logo and turned it into a more friendly manga-like character when I designed my new Flash website in ’06. I’m offered free advertising space inside a London cab! The driver will promote me [do the talk and hand out my cards], so no more excuses to postpone the new look!
Along with the touching up of my logo character and the redesign of my business cards, I’ll have to think of a strategic well marketed cab advert which is quite large in size, one for me and one for the driver as well. I’m gonna be busy but in a satisfying way! Which side of the cab shall I put my ad: left or right?

She’s gonna look SO cool with spot UV wings!
I’m gonna have to read up on those technical terms

New eyes… and freckles too?
Alright!! I was wondering for quite a while now about the cab deal.
I just might have to make a trip so I can ride in one
(don’t be messing with those greys now)
It’s a beautiful quick drying varnish… but you’ll see the result one day soon I hope [as soon as cold is gone
]. Eyes and freckles are new since 2006 but I’ve done more since which is not visible here. You still have the outdated business card *hehe* See what I mean? It needs adjusting
Cab deal: I went there on Sunday and ripped out the sticker that was in the cab, so I can use that as a template. I was waiting for him to send me the measurements but scanning the sticker is a much more accurate way especially since it’s not a rectangular shape, the corners and top are rounded.
But I need a catch phrase now *hehe* and a better portfolio on my website :-O
So: more extra work…
To me it sounds very exciting, you’re one of the lucky people that actually have a really interesting job
Besides I’ve always really loved listening to people talking about about something they were enthusiastic about, I could probably even listen to someone talking about quantum physics if the person would seem thrilled enough
Although I find your field of work much much more appealing than quantum physics, of course LOL
Hi Bitter Chocolate, thank you
I am really enjoying the work I’m doing although it can be extremely stressful too, especially when you have to deal with the client from hell so you really need to find the balance.
I hope you’ll hear something soon, it would be a great opportunity!
At times the aggravation that someone is causing isn’t worth doing the job and I’ve met a few with that attitude lately which was a steep learning curve but these days I tell them ‘no’ and it doesn’t take me that long anymore to see the red flags.
I understand what you’re saying about enthusiastic people, I also enjoyed reading your post about the preparations for Spain, I could read your perseverance and enthusiasm in each word
I loved the drawing

Where would I put the ad in the cab? left
I can just imagine how beautiful your business cards will be.
Have a nice weekend T.
Thanks Wen!
I have to say it’s the old one still, I’ve done some more fine-tuning and restyling and it starts to look better, the one here is a quickie that I used for my website in 2006. I’ll put the new one online when it’s done
I have a strategy because left is where most enter and leave the cab since it’s the side that is near the pavement. Also people get out first [on the left side] and then hand the money to the driver through the window, so I think left is the best option to have my advert noticed

Left huh? I was thinking the same thing… I’m curious why you chose left
I could send you one if you like, once I’ve had them printed? Have a beautiful weekend too!
Thanks! I would love you to send me one when printed!

I chose left because of the same reason that people get in the cab from that side as it is the British way of driving as here
Have a nice Sunday,
Thanks for your input Wen, hope you had a good weekend!!!
I like the new logo! Can’t wait to see the finished deal.
Thanks! That was still the old one, I’ve touched it up and gave her a blouse or jacket to wear *hehe* I’ll show you when it’s done
