Expanding Horizons

Posted on April 16, 2009 by Zesty Gal

I went to see my client yesterday; they’d asked me to train some of the staff on how to use the eCommerce website that I built for them a while ago. The website hasn’t been live yet but they’re now waiting for the new collections to come in. They’ll launch it this Spring season with all brand new products. I’m going to help them with the product pictures so hopefully it will go live before the end of May.

While I was busy with the design of their labels last week they asked me to come up with a brand new logo design as well. I didn’t understand why they wanted to change it but they told me yesterday that ever since the redesign of the website they wanted to use the opportunity to change strategies. It keeps getting better: they’re so happy with the new logo that it’ll be used for branding in combination with the website design.

I’m absolutely chuffed about the whole thing because it literally means my design will be on each and every item that they’ll produce which are all leather products: jackets, gloves, skirts, bags, belts etc. sold at high street shops and fashion boutiques. The website url will be printed on each and every product as well. We’re talking about quantities with over six zeros here… can you imagine how it makes me glow?

In a few weeks I’ll be doing the new Spring catalogue. There’s another exciting thing in the pipeline that might involve a partly change in career but I’ll write about that when the time is right. I went home yesterday with a brand new soft green leather jacket and two pair of beautiful and sexy long gloves *SO my style!!!* They’re unique items because they’re design samples: only one in the world. Talking of which… it seems my oyster lately!

Happy Design(er)

I’ve been busy designing my stationery and I’m having a ball! I’ve finished a lot and I can’t wait to send it off to the printer as soon as possible. Last week a client told me that they’ve decided to use my website design to brand their whole product range which is great news. I’ve already designed their business cards and I’m currently working for them on a swing ticket design: they’ll be matt black with the floral print in varnish and a white logo, it will be printed in China, it turned out to be much cheaper since they’ll need a start quantity of at least 10.000.

I received a really nice email from another client last Friday, he had asked some of hís clients to have a look at the website I built for him and he forwarded their response to me. Tiny snippet: “I have just had a look at the website and it is very sleek and professional looking, if I ever sort out a website I’ll get her details from you”. Another snippet from another person: “Hi, had a look at it and really like the booking via credit card pages. Guess you’re ready to go!” It’s always good to know that others appreciate your work as well.

This is not just a compliment to me about my design skills but also a compliment to the client, perhaps even a confirmation and/or affirmation that he/she made the right choice in designer. The sun is shining and I’ve just received approval on a quote. I’ve accomplished a lot and I feel good about it, so I’d better crack on with things. I’ve finished the restyling of my logo and I’m really happy with it, below is the final design which I’ll be using for my stationery.
