The Blue Envelope

To my surprise I received the infamous and dreaded blue envelope from the Netherlands this morning. I looked down from the top of the stairs and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw what was lying there on the doormat: a blue envelope?

Funnily surprising how instantly recognisable it is because it’s so typical Dutch… It’s been three years since I sent off the last one to Heerlen… I still don’t believe what happened, because they informed me about a three zero amount that I’ve just received from them over 2006.

They already have been extremely generous when I sent off that last letter and now two years later, on top of that, I receive another third of what I got previously. I never had a bad relationship with them -unlike some Dutch- but this is the best blue envelope I’ve ever received!

It pays for a long-standing trip in the near future…

  1. Isn’t it nice to receive something soo nice in the post? :) I wish I received an income tax return envelope with a yummy check in it :) Not gonna happen in my case though, maybe one day :)

  2. It sure is! :) I wasn’t expecting it at all especially not after three years since I’ve left the country… but it pays nicely for two return tickets ;)

You never know Wen… perhaps something else might end up in the post one day. Which reminds me: as expected the printer is late, I called him several times and of course it will be delivered when I’m not here, so I arranged another date the day after I’m back from my trip to NL. Just to let you know that it hasn’t been delivered yet but as soon as it is you’ll receive something nice in the post ;)

  3. Isn’t it great? Yay!
I received a check from my insurance company this week after almost 2 years trying to get them give my my due. Finally it’s over and I have my check!

  5. Yes, it is! I’m happy to hear you had something similar happen to you, it’s such a nice surprise! And in your case it’s the perfect way to find closure to something that must have become a drag, I hope you used it to celebrate the fact ;)

  6. I’m sure by the time you have to sort it out you’ll get used to it and it won’t seem as bad, it really isn’t that bad, it’s just a matter of staying organised and on top of things *LOL* So enjoy being a student for now and not having to ‘worry’ about stuff like that *hehe*

And thank you so much for your kind wishes and the hugs! :)

I’m feeling much better already, thanks! :)
