I was shocked to hear this on the news just now… like when I was shocked to hear that Luther Allison had past away, years ago. Both cancer. DeVille and Luther Allison were one of the best to me… I’ve seen them perform at least five times.
DeVille at least three times at the Paradiso in Amsterdam and years ago in The Hague at Parkpop. His voice was amazing, raw and beautiful at the same time. I know one of his close friends and neighbour in New Orleans, a fellow musician (sax). I will miss him but I’m happy that I had the opportunity to see his gig in Amsterdam before I moved to London.
