Amsterdam Harbour by Sunset

Last week I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive around the Westpoort harbour of Amsterdam on a barge by sunset. I realised it could get really late that night and I had an important meeting the next day but I didn’t mind about the next day. All I wanted was to have this experience and see what it is like to pick up a load of soy beans from a ship from Manila. It was an adventure and I had the time of my life!

It was 02.30 in the morning when I finally went to bed. Cold because of the wind on the water but extremely happy because I did something out of the ordinary and unplanned. It reminded me of adventures organised by my dad who would wake me up in the middle of the night, age seven, to go see a ship that ran aground -due to a severe storm- at the Scheveningen shore and have fish and chips after to warm up again…

  1. I bet it was an adventure :-)
Somehow I’d think even more so at night.
And I expected a walk around the park :-O

  2. It was amazing!!! :) But the vids are better *hehe* So expect something in the mail soon ;)

I was lucky that evening to have a beautiful clear bright night after a wonderful sunset, it was the perfect condition for the perfect atmosphere :)

No walks around the park *LOL*… just a five hours chat and coffee at a terrace *grin* I thought seeing park again might been boring to you :-O

But I still have another mystery… you’ll find out soon enough, no park but some nice vids and photos of tiny newborns (or should I say airborne *hehe*) ;)

  3. So you are there and the new adventure has started…how exciting :)

Sorry I hadn’t had the time to come to your blog before. After the holiday, work at the office had piled up and well…it wasn’t until last night that I had some time to blog a bit and visit my friends’ blogs :)

Beautiful pictures of Amsterdam :) Unplanned trips are usually the most memorable ones.

    Abrazo,

  4. Hi Wen! No I’m not there yet *LOL* I was for three days but I’m back in London again and in the middle of the great move so will be there soon ;)

No need to apologise, I haven’t had a chance to leave you comments either, I saw your beautiful pictures but had internet problems right after :( But I will visit soon! Snail mail is on its way to you so I hope you’ll get it and happy you enjoyed the pictures! :)

Yes this was a really awesome surprise trip! I loved it :)

    Hugs back at ya!
